The Denver Nuggets extended their postseason on April 28, 2026, defeating the Minnesota Timberwolves 125-113 in Game 5 and trimming the Western Conference first-round series to 3-2.

Nikola Jokic delivered 27 points, 12 rebounds and 16 assists, while Jamal Murray provided his usual scoring punch. The night, however, belonged to Denver’s understudies. With Aaron Gordon sidelined and depth an issue through the first four games, the reserves finally answered. Spencer Jones came off the bench for 20 points and four three-pointers after a quiet start to the series, and the trio of Cam Johnson, Christian Braun and Bruce Brown supplied energy at both ends.

Denver also capitalized on Minnesota’s mistakes. The Timberwolves committed 25 turnovers, which the Nuggets converted into 35 points to stave off elimination.

The matchup now shifts to Minneapolis for Game 6, where Minnesota will attempt to close out the series on its home floor. The Timberwolves are still without Anthony Edwards and Donte DiVincenzo, leaving coach Chris Finch to juggle an unsettled rotation. Ayo Dosunmu has produced several standout performances, while Jaden McDaniels has been a central figure in the series’ increasing physicality.

Minnesota needs one more victory to advance; Denver must win the next two to move on.
