Reaves, Durant Questionable for Game 4 as Lakers Aim to Close Out Rockets

The Los Angeles Lakers and Houston Rockets listed guards Austin Reaves and Kevin Durant as questionable for Game 4 of their first-round series, scheduled for Sunday at 6:30 p.m. PT at Toyota Center in Houston.

Latest on Austin Reaves

Reaves has not appeared in the series after suffering a Grade 2 left oblique strain on April 2. Initially projected to miss four to six weeks, the second-year guard completed pre-game warm-ups before sitting out Game 3. A return on Sunday would mark an absence of fewer than four weeks.

Durant’s Postseason Setbacks

Durant, dealing with a left ankle sprain, also carries a questionable tag. The forward missed Game 1 after bumping knees with a Rockets teammate during practice, played in Game 2, and sustained the ankle injury that sidelined him for Game 3.

Additional Injuries

The Lakers remain without Luka Doncic, out since April 2 with a Grade 2 left hamstring strain and expected to follow a four-to-six-week timetable. Houston continues to miss Fred VanVleet (preseason knee injury) and Steven Adams (midseason knee injury).

Series Status

Los Angeles leads the best-of-seven matchup 3–0. A victory Sunday would secure a berth in the Western Conference semifinals. The Lakers, heavy underdogs entering the series, have leaned on energetic play from Marcus Smart, Luke Kennard, and Rui Hachimura alongside LeBron James.

Game 3 Rally

In Saturday’s 112–108 win, the Lakers erased a six-point deficit in the final 30 seconds. Smart forced a turnover and hit three free throws, while James followed with a steal and a game-tying three-pointer. Head coach JJ Redick praised the duo, saying, “They both made big-time plays… our defense was fantastic.”

Game 4 will air on NBC and Peacock.
