Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo made clear he is not a fan of Los Angeles while speaking on the YouTube channel “Gogis Garage,” stating he would rather spend time in Miami than in L.A.

During the conversation, former NBA guard Goran Dragić asked the two-time MVP to choose between a vacation in Los Angeles or Miami. Antetokounmpo replied, “Miami. Miami, Miami. I think L.A. is superficial. I don’t like L.A.”

The remark arrives as league insiders expect the Bucks to explore trade options for Antetokounmpo this offseason after a disappointing year. The Los Angeles Lakers have been mentioned as a possible destination, though the forward’s comments suggest little enthusiasm for such a move.

Heat Remain in the Hunt

The Miami Heat, one of the few teams that pursued Antetokounmpo before the last trade deadline, are widely expected to renew their efforts in the summer. Milwaukee declined to move the 30-year-old star during the season but is rumored to be open to significant roster changes.

Lakers Face Obstacles—and Health Concerns

Los Angeles continues to monitor superstar talent to pair with Luka Dončić, particularly with LeBron James’ future uncertain. However, questions persist about the Lakers’ trade assets and Antetokounmpo’s durability. The forward appeared in only 36 games this season, missing time with a left knee hyperextension and bone bruise, among other lower-leg issues that have sidelined him in recent postseasons.

L.A. could access additional draft picks after the season, strengthening any potential offer. Yet some within the organization are reportedly weighing the value of adding roster depth over pursuing another high-profile star.

Expectations for Offseason Talks

The Lakers still believe they can make Antetokounmpo’s shortlist of preferred destinations if the Bucks agree to facilitate a trade, banking on the appeal of a major market and championship ambitions. Antetokounmpo’s public preference for Miami, though, may complicate those hopes as free-agency talks approach.
