Former G League Ignite swingman Dink Pate, who spent the 2025-26 season with the Westchester Knicks, has committed to play at Providence, agent Sam Permut told ESPN’s Jeff Borzello.
Jeff Goodman of Field of 68 reported that Kentucky, Alabama, NC State and Georgia were also pursuing the 20-year-old guard/forward.
According to Borzello, Pate rejected offers for 10-day contracts and two-way deals from NBA clubs in order to preserve his college eligibility. DraftExpress’ Jonathan Givony noted in January that Pate had already declined multiple two-way opportunities earlier in the season.
The 6’8” prospect averaged 16.4 points, 6.7 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 0.9 steals across 50 games (31.9 minutes) for Westchester, shooting 40.0% from the field, 34.6% from three-point range and 74.0% at the foul line. He previously appeared for the Mexico City Capitanes during the 2024-25 campaign.
Pate graduated from high school in 2023, positioning him for at least two potential seasons of NCAA eligibility starting next year. Whether he will be cleared to play remains uncertain. NCAA President Charlie Baker said in December that any player who has signed an NBA contract, including a two-way agreement, would be ineligible for college competition. Pate signed an Exhibit 10 contract with New York last September, and the NCAA has not clarified if that non-guaranteed arrangement affects eligibility.
