MILWAUKEE — Giannis Antetokounmpo said he has no intention of leaving the Milwaukee Bucks, dismissing speculation about his future as an insult to everyone inside the locker room.

“I’m here, I committed, I’m wearing the jersey, and it is disrespectful to my teammates, to my coaching staff, to the people that I go and sweat with, and go to war with, to say I don’t want to be here — and I will never do that,” Antetokounmpo told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

The two-time NBA MVP added that internal discussions should stay private. “It’s not my job, it’s not my responsibility, and it should not — in no shape or form — be shared in public. I believe in basketball etiquette,” he said, noting that he has already spoken with team owners, general manager Jon Horst and the coaching staff about “what I feel and what I believe the situation is.”

Antetokounmpo’s remarks come as the NBA investigates how Milwaukee has handled information related to his current injury. Tension between the star forward and the organization has grown in recent weeks, particularly over communication about his health status.

He also addressed comments from Bucks co-owner Wes Edens regarding his contract. “For me, that comment was a slap in the face,” Antetokounmpo said. “But it’s my boss, so I just gotta keep on moving forward.”

The 29-year-old emphasized he does not want to create distractions while he recovers, reiterating that any speculation suggesting otherwise misrepresents his commitment to Milwaukee.
