The Golden State Warriors plan to sign 6-foot-10 center Charles Bassey, Michael Scotto of HoopsHype reported Monday.
Bassey, selected 53rd overall in the 2021 NBA Draft, has appeared in 113 regular-season games with the Philadelphia 76ers and San Antonio Spurs, posting averages of 4.3 points and 4.3 rebounds across 11.1 minutes.
This season, the 23-year-old has been working on a series of 10-day contracts—first with the Memphis Grizzlies under a hardship exception in October, then on two separate 10-day stints with the 76ers and the Boston Celtics. His second deal with Boston expired Friday, making him a free agent.
Bassey has logged eight NBA appearances in 2023-24, contributing 2.9 points and 2.6 rebounds in limited action. His productivity has been higher in the NBA G League, where he averaged 20.5 points, 12.5 rebounds and 2.2 blocks over 20 games, including an extended run with Santa Cruz, Golden State’s affiliate.
He is expected to fill the roster spot previously held by center Omer Yurtseven, whose 10-day contract with the Warriors recently ended.
