The Los Angeles Lakers closed out March on Tuesday night with a 127–113 home victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers, powered by Luka Doncic’s explosive return from a one-game suspension.
Doncic, sidelined in the previous contest after collecting his 16th technical foul of the season, poured in 42 points, five rebounds and 12 assists while committing no turnovers. The guard shot 13-for-26 from the field, added two steals and finished the night with a dunk that pushed his March scoring total past 600 points, a feat matched only by Michael Jordan. The 27-year-old also eclipsed 15,000 career points, becoming the third-youngest player in NBA history to hit that mark behind LeBron James and Kevin Durant.
The win moved Los Angeles to 15-2 in March, their best month of the season, and extended their current streak to four victories and 13 wins in the past 14 games. Earlier in the day, the Lakers secured both a playoff berth and their second consecutive Pacific Division title when the Phoenix Suns fell to the Orlando Magic. Tuesday’s result marked the team’s 50th win of the campaign and the 100th in two seasons under head coach JJ Redick.
James contributed 14 points, five rebounds and six assists. More significantly, the triumph was the 1,229th combined regular-season and postseason win of his career, breaking a tie with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for the most in league history. Rui Hachimura supplied 14 points on 6-of-8 shooting off the bench, reaching 5,000 career points.
The Lakers’ balanced attack also featured Austin Reaves with 19 points, Deandre Ayton with 18 and Jake LaRavia with 14. Cleveland led after one quarter, but Los Angeles dominated the middle periods to put the game out of reach.
