The Golden State Warriors and forward/center Kristaps Porzingis may enter negotiations on a new deal when the NBA offseason begins, according to multiple reports.

Porzingis is set to reach free agency in July, but both sides are said to be interested in a longer commitment if his current tenure continues to progress smoothly.

The 7-foot-3 veteran joined Golden State in the Jonathan Kuminga trade with the Atlanta Hawks. In limited action through Friday, he is averaging 17.1 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.4 blocks, while providing the Warriors with additional size, shooting range and defensive versatility.

Team officials view Porzingis’s skill set as a strong fit alongside Stephen Curry and the rest of the roster. While variables remain and free agency is still months away, the possibility of a new contract is expected to stay on the table as the offseason approaches.
