On Wednesday in Denver, the Nuggets posted a milestone performance in a 128-118 victory over the Mavericks, led by Jamal Murray’s season-best 53 points and Nikola Jokic’s 23 points, 21 rebounds and 19 assists.

The outing marked the first time in NBA history that one player scored at least 50 points while a teammate logged at least 15 points, 15 rebounds and 15 assists in the same game, according to the Associated Press. “Fifty-three from your point guard and 23-21-19 from your center—just outrageous numbers,” head coach David Adelman said. “They really are the history book of this franchise.”

Jokic’s Triple-Double Run Continues

Jokic owns a league-high 30 triple-doubles this season and finished Tuesday’s win in Phoenix with 23 points, 17 rebounds and 17 assists. The two-time MVP currently tops the NBA in both rebounds (12.8) and assists (10.8) per game.

Watson Shines After Injury Layoff

Fourth-year wing Peyton Watson has returned from a hamstring strain averaging 17.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists with no turnovers over his first two games back, shooting .565 from the field and .370 from deep in 21.5 minutes per contest. “It starts with establishing your aggression offensively,” Watson said, adding that once defenses react, his focus shifts to finding open teammates.

Cameron Johnson Boosting Starting Five

Forward Cameron Johnson has averaged 12.9 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 12 March games while shooting .524 overall and .466 from three. Johnson believes the group’s offensive rhythm is strong but says defensive improvements in transition and on the glass remain a priority.

Small-Ball Bench Unit Emerges

Adelman has shelved veteran center Jonas Valanciunas for the past four games, instead deploying a smaller second unit built around Bruce Brown, Tim Hardaway Jr., Spencer Jones, Watson and Murray. “It gives us another dimension,” Jones noted, highlighting the group’s ability to switch, generate steals and create fast-break chances.

The Nuggets return to action Friday as they continue to fine-tune lineups ahead of the postseason.
