Grizzlies rule Ja Morant out for season with left elbow ligament sprain

MEMPHIS — The Memphis Grizzlies announced Tuesday night that guard Ja Morant will miss the remainder of the 2025-26 campaign because of an ulnar collateral ligament sprain in his left elbow.
The two-time All-Star appeared in just 20 games this season. According to the club, the 26-year-old suffered the injury on Jan. 21, only two outings after returning from a two-week absence caused by calf soreness.
Team officials said Morant recently consulted specialists about persistent discomfort and was advised to undergo a platelet-rich plasma injection designed to speed ligament healing. The Grizzlies expect him to be fully cleared for the start of the 2026-27 season.
Memphis explored trade possibilities for Morant before February’s deadline but reportedly found limited interest. Over the past three seasons he has played 79 games combined, a total restricted by suspensions and multiple injuries.
Morant has two years and $87 million remaining on his contract.
