The Atlanta Hawks waived guards Javan Johnson and Dwight Murray Jr. on Wednesday, one day after signing them to training-camp contracts.
The quick turnaround was designed to make both players eligible for Exhibit 10 bonuses of up to $85,300. To collect the incentive, each must spend at least 60 days with the College Park Skyhawks, Atlanta’s NBA G League affiliate.
Johnson, 26, went undrafted in 2023 after collegiate stops at Troy, Iowa State, and DePaul. Last season he averaged 13.8 points in 49 games for the Santa Cruz Warriors of the G League and also logged minutes in Puerto Rico. College Park obtained his returning rights in a three-team trade earlier this summer.
Murray, 25, also entered the 2023 draft but was not selected. The Georgia native split last season between overseas play and the Skyhawks, where he posted 9.0 points and 5.1 assists across 29 starts.
Both guards now hold returning rights with College Park and can rejoin the Skyhawks once G League training camp opens, keeping the Exhibit 10 bonus opportunity in play.
