PHOENIX — The Suns could regain two starters during their upcoming road swing, with wing Dillon Brooks and center Mark Williams both tracking toward returns next week, according to Arizona Sports 98.7’s John Gambadoro.
Suns Expect Brooks First, Williams Later
Phoenix opens a five-game trip Monday in Memphis and wraps up Sunday in Chicago. Gambadoro reports Brooks is likely to rejoin the lineup early in the trip, while Williams is targeting the latter portion.
Brooks, 30, underwent surgery last month to repair a fractured left hand. He is four weeks removed from the procedure, which carried a projected recovery time of four-to-six weeks.
Williams, 24, has not played since Mar. 3 because of a stress reaction in his left foot. The center is set to enter restricted free agency this summer.
Bulls Hold Out Ivey Again
Chicago upgraded guard Jaden Ivey (left knee soreness) to questionable Sunday before ruling him out, sidelining him for a 16th straight game Monday against Houston. K.C. Johnson of Chicago Sports Network reports Ivey recently returned to practice but collided knees with a teammate; he will be evaluated by a doctor Monday night. Head coach Billy Donovan had planned to bring the impending restricted free agent on the Bulls’ four-game trip, a plan now in doubt.
Embiid Tests Oblique in Philadelphia
Sixers center Joel Embiid participated in Monday’s shootaround and completed additional individual drills as he recovers from a right oblique strain, per PHLY Sports’ Derek Bodner. Embiid will undergo a more demanding workout Tuesday and be re-evaluated afterward. Monday marked his 13th consecutive absence.
Shamet Out for Knicks, Return Expected Soon
Knicks swingman Landry Shamet will miss Tuesday’s contest because of a right knee tibial plateau contusion—commonly called a bone bruise—sustained Friday in Brooklyn, reports Stefan Bondy of The New York Post. After also sitting out Sunday, Shamet is expected back within a few games. The veteran has been a key reserve for New York this season.
