MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Grizzlies will have recently drafted guard Jahmai Mashack begin the 2025-26 campaign with their G League affiliate, the Memphis Hustle, according to multiple reports on X (formerly Twitter).
Chris Herrington of The Daily Memphian first reported the move, and Damichael Cole of The Commercial Appeal later confirmed it. Mashack, selected 59th overall in June and acquired by Memphis on draft night, remains under the club’s NBA control while he develops in Southaven.
The decision follows the Grizzlies’ agreement with forward Olivier-Maxence Prosper, which filled the team’s final two-way roster spot and left no immediate opening for Mashack. Despite the roster crunch, team officials are said to remain high on the 6-4 wing after his productive Summer League showing, where he averaged 9.0 points, 4.4 assists, 4.0 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.2 blocks in 23.7 minutes per game while shooting 46.2 percent from the field and 41.7 percent from three.
Mashack, who turns 23 in November, played four seasons at Tennessee and became a full-time starter as a senior in 2024-25. He posted 6.0 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.7 steals in 28.2 minutes per contest, shooting 45.4 percent overall and 35.1 percent from beyond the arc.
The guard is expected to sign a G League contract before the Hustle’s training camp opens. Because two-way deals are non-guaranteed and do not count against the salary cap, Memphis retains the flexibility to add Mashack to its NBA roster later this season or convert him to a standard contract.
