Chicago may regain two back-court pieces when it hosts Houston on Monday. Guards Anfernee Simons and Jaden Ivey were moved to “questionable” on the latest injury report, according to a social-media post from K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Sports Network.
Simons, 26, has been sidelined since February 21 after aggravating a left ulnar styloid fracture in the same wrist he injured during training camp. The veteran missed 13 straight contests and had initially been ruled out for Monday before the team upgraded his status. He is eligible for unrestricted free agency this summer.
Ivey, 24, last appeared on February 11. The second-year guard has dealt with patellofemoral pain syndrome—commonly called runner’s knee—in his left leg. Head coach Billy Donovan recently said the discomfort had subsided, and Ivey has increased his on-court workload over the past two weeks. Acquired from Detroit before February’s trade deadline, he has played four games for Chicago and will enter restricted free agency in the off-season.
Chicago also listed forward Jalen Smith (right calf strain, injury management) as questionable. Isaac Okoro (right patellofemoral pain syndrome) and Guerschon Yabusele (left ankle sprain) are doubtful for Monday’s meeting with the Rockets.
