The Washington Wizards plan to conduct another medical evaluation on forward Anthony Davis at the end of March, the team announced after his latest check-up in Los Angeles.

Davis, 32, had his left hand examined on Thursday. Doctors reported “positive” progress, but the volar plate ligament has not fully healed, leaving his return timetable unchanged, according to the club.

The organization will keep its approach conservative, gradually expanding Davis’ on-court workload as tolerated before reassessing him later this month.

Despite optimism that the eight-time All-Star could appear in a game before Washington’s regular-season finale on April 12, the team has expressed no urgency. The Wizards sit near the bottom of the NBA standings and hold a top-eight-protected first-round pick, making draft positioning a priority.

Davis has been limited to 20 games this season, averaging 20.4 points and 11.1 rebounds. Washington, however, has indicated it would like to have its veterans share the floor with the younger core whenever medically feasible.
