Thursday night delivered a string of notable performances across the league, headlined by Luka Doncic’s 60-point eruption, LeBron James reaching another career milestone, Norman Powell’s shift to a reserve role and Coby White’s productive run off the bench.
Lakers
Los Angeles had both of its marquee players available and extended its winning streak to eight games. LeBron James recorded a triple-double and tied Robert Parish’s all-time regular-season appearance record at 1,611 contests.
“If anyone is deserving … I would say LeBron James is,” Parish told ESPN. “He’s playing at an All-Star level still, which is equally impressive.”
Doncic’s 60 against the Heat
Luka Doncic poured in 60 points in a 134-126 victory over Miami, lifting his season average to 33.4 points and intensifying his MVP buzz. “He’s playing as well as anyone in basketball,” coach JJ Redick said. “He’s elevated his play at a really important time for our team.”
Heat
Norman Powell, recently back from a groin strain, has come off the bench in two of three games while still logging significant minutes. “I feel like I’m a starter,” Powell said to the Miami Herald. “But if the team feels that me coming off the bench is going to put us in position to win games, I’m going to accept the role.”
Hornets
Charlotte guard Coby White is thriving as a sixth man, averaging 23.0 points over his last three outings. Coach Charles Lee praised the guard’s progress: “He’s gotta be himself. He’s a heck of a player … I’m really proud of Coby’s growth.”
The night’s performances kept playoff conversations humming and added fresh storylines as the regular season rolls on.
