The Utah Jazz are set to bring in former second-round pick Kennedy Chandler on a 10-day contract, agent Ryan Davis told Shams Charania of ESPN.
Chandler, 22, entered the league as the 38th overall selection in the 2022 NBA Draft. He spent his rookie year with the Memphis Grizzlies before being waived in the 2023 offseason. Since then, the 6-foot guard has appeared in the G League for the Long Island Nets, Raptors 905, and most recently the Delaware Blue Coats.
This season with Philadelphia’s NBAGL affiliate, Chandler has averaged 17.3 points, 9.7 assists, and 35.3 minutes across 36 games while shooting 44.9% from the field, 29.9% from three, and 68.6% at the line.
Utah’s 15-man roster currently includes two players on expiring 10-day deals: Andersson Garcia (contract ends Friday night) and Bez Mbeng (runs through Sunday). Chandler could fill either slot, though the Jazz may also qualify for a hardship exception if they reach four long-term injuries. Jaren Jackson Jr., Walker Kessler, and Jusuf Nurkic have already been ruled out for the season, while Lauri Markkanen and Keyonte George are sidelined with multi-week ailments. Should Markkanen or George be projected to miss two additional weeks, the club would be allowed to exceed the 15-player limit.
Under a standard 10-day agreement, Chandler will earn $117,730. If the Jazz wait until Saturday to finalize the signing, he could slide into Garcia’s spot and be available for the team’s next six contests.
