Brooklyn Nets forward Michael Porter Jr. will miss a minimum of two to three weeks after an MRI on Wednesday confirmed a strain in his left hamstring, the team announced.

The 27-year-old will be re-evaluated near the end of March. With the Nets already eliminated from playoff contention and only a little more than three weeks remaining before the regular season ends on April 12, the injury could effectively end Porter’s first campaign in Brooklyn.

Porter has appeared in 52 games this season, averaging 24.2 points, 7.1 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.1 steals while shooting 46.3% from the field, 36.3% from three and 85.9% at the free-throw line. His scoring and assist numbers are career highs.

He last played on March 10, when he scored 19 points in 22 minutes during a loss to Detroit. Porter missed the Nets’ past four games because of a right ankle sprain and suffered the hamstring injury while attempting to return.

Brooklyn is 14-38 with Porter in the lineup and 3-14 without him. His absence adds to an expanding injury list that already includes Egor Demin (plantar fasciitis) and DayRon Sharpe (torn UCL in left thumb), both ruled out for the season. Forwards Danny Wolf, Josh Minott and Ziaire Williams could see increased minutes while Porter recovers.

The 2026-27 season is the final year of Porter’s current contract. He is set to earn $40.8 million next year and will be eligible for an extension during the offseason.
