The Memphis Grizzlies have shut down big man Santi Aldama for the remainder of the 2025-26 campaign after the 23-year-old underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee, the club announced Tuesday.

The procedure, performed earlier in the day, included an orthobiologic injection designed to relieve discomfort in the trochlear compartment of the knee. According to the team, Aldama is expected to be fully cleared before training camp next season.

Aldama has not played since Feb. 4 because of persistent knee pain. In 43 appearances, he averaged a career-best 14.0 points and 6.7 rebounds across 27.9 minutes, shooting 47.9% from the field and 35.0% from three-point range. The former first-round pick signed a three-year, $52.5 million deal as a restricted free agent last summer.

Memphis revealed Sunday that the forward would need the operation. Earlier Tuesday, the team also announced toe surgery for guard Scotty Pippen Jr., who will likewise miss the rest of the season.

Injuries have plagued the Grizzlies all year. Ty Jerome, Zach Edey, Brandon Clarke and Ja Morant have all missed extended stretches, and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope was ruled out last month after finger surgery.
