Kevin Durant Takes Blame for Rockets’ Loss to Lakers After Second-Half Collapse

LOS ANGELES — Kevin Durant said he cost the Houston Rockets their game against the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday night, pointing to a rough second half that erased the team’s lead.

Speaking immediately after the March 17, 2026 matchup, Durant told reporters he “lost the game” for Houston, citing turnovers and missed shots following halftime. The Rockets were up at the break before the veteran forward’s struggles coincided with a decisive Lakers surge.

Durant, now in his second season with Houston, finished the night visibly frustrated, repeating that the defeat was “on me” and vowing to bounce back in the next outing. No other Rockets player was willing to pin the loss on the 37-year-old star, but Durant insisted his second-half performance was the difference.

The Rockets and Lakers meet again later this season.
