The Atlanta Hawks have signed forward Javan Johnson and guard Dwight Murray Jr., the team confirmed on September 3 in an official press release.

Johnson, 26, went undrafted in 2023 after collegiate stops at Troy, Iowa State and DePaul. He spent most of the past two seasons with the G League’s Santa Cruz Warriors, averaging 13.8 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.4 assists across 49 games last year while shooting .417 from the field, .374 from three-point range and .912 at the free-throw line. His professional résumé also includes a brief 2024 stint with the Gladiadores de Anzoátegui in Puerto Rico. College Park, Atlanta’s G League affiliate, acquired his returning player rights in August in a three-team trade that also involved the Salt Lake City Stars.

Murray, also undrafted in 2023, opened his pro career in Montenegro with KK Mornar before joining the College Park Skyhawks last season. The 6-foot guard from Austell, Georgia, started 29 of 43 games for the Skyhawks, producing 9.0 points, 5.1 assists and 3.8 rebounds in 23.9 minutes per contest while shooting .391/.315/.762.

Contract terms were not disclosed, but both deals are expected to include Exhibit 10 language. That structure would allow each player to earn bonuses of up to $85,300 if they are waived by Atlanta and then remain with College Park for at least 60 days. Both Johnson and Murray would qualify as returning-rights players for the Skyhawks.

The additions give Atlanta 20 players under contract, one short of the NBA’s offseason limit.
