LOS ANGELES — Kawhi Leonard left Saturday night’s 118-109 home defeat to the Sacramento Kings after twisting his left ankle late in the fourth quarter, and the LA Clippers offered no immediate update on how long the forward might be sidelined.
The injury occurred with 9:27 remaining when Leonard, defending DeMar DeRozan, landed awkwardly, backpedaled a few steps and fell to the floor. He got up quickly but hobbled to the bench before heading to the locker room and did not return.
Leonard had scored 31 points before exiting. The performance marked his 45th straight game with at least 20 points, eclipsing Bob McAdoo’s franchise record set during the 1974-75 season, when the club was based in Buffalo. Despite Leonard’s effort, the loss snapped the Clippers’ four-game winning streak.
The two-time NBA Finals MVP is averaging a career-high 28.3 points across 52 appearances this season.
