DALLAS — Mavericks star Luka Doncic said Friday, March 13, that stepping onto the court remains his source of calm while off-court tension with his former fiancée persists.
Speaking to reporters after practice, the 27-year-old guard acknowledged that the ongoing personal matter has drawn public attention but insisted it has not affected his game. “Basketball brings me peace,” he said, adding that focusing on team goals helps him keep outside issues from becoming a distraction.
Doncic has been at the center of headlines since ending his engagement earlier this year. Despite the scrutiny, he continues to log All-Star numbers and lead Dallas in its push for playoff positioning.
Team officials declined to comment on the private dispute, emphasizing that the organization remains committed to supporting its players. Coach Jason Kidd praised Doncic’s professionalism, noting that the guard has “been locked in on winning” throughout the season.
With the Mavericks set to host Denver on Saturday night, Doncic said he plans to maintain the same approach. “When I’m on the floor, that’s where I feel most myself,” he said. “Everything else stays outside the lines.”
