The Golden State Warriors will keep Stephen Curry out for an additional 10 days while the star guard continues to battle patellofemoral pain syndrome in his right knee, the club announced Wednesday.
The update extends Curry’s absence to at least 20 games. He has already sat out 15 consecutive contests since the issue surfaced during a solo workout in Minneapolis on Jan. 24.
Team officials describe the condition—commonly called “runner’s knee”—as unpredictable. Curry resumed on-court activities recently and is expected to ramp up those workouts, but earlier attempts to accelerate his return were scaled back when the knee did not respond as hoped.
Without their two-time MVP, the Warriors have dropped three straight, including losses to the Chicago Bulls and Utah Jazz. At 32-33, Golden State sits ninth in the Western Conference, one spot behind the LA Clippers and on track for a potential 9-versus-10 play-in matchup against the Portland Trail Blazers.
Curry is set to miss Friday’s home game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, followed by a four-game road swing next week against the New York Knicks, Washington Wizards, Boston Celtics and Detroit Pistons.
The Warriors continue to emphasize Curry’s determination to be back for the final stretch of the regular season and any postseason push.
