Tyrese Maxey to Miss Minimum of Three Weeks with Right Pinkie Tendon Injury

The Philadelphia 76ers announced Tuesday that All-Star guard Tyrese Maxey has a tendon injury in his right pinkie and will be reevaluated in approximately three weeks.

Maxey was hurt late in Saturday’s 117-113 loss to the Atlanta Hawks when he collided with teammate Adem Bona with 16 seconds remaining. He immediately clutched his right hand and went to the locker room.

Initial X-rays and an MRI showed no fractures, but further tests by hand specialists later confirmed the tendon damage, according to head coach Nick Nurse.

The setback compounds injury and availability problems for Philadelphia. Joel Embiid is already sidelined with a strained right oblique, and Paul George continues to serve a 25-game suspension.

Before the injury, Maxey was producing career-best numbers: 29.0 points, 4.1 rebounds, 6.7 assists and 2.0 steals per contest. The 76ers entered Tuesday in eighth place in the Eastern Conference after dropping four of their previous five games.
