Pelicans Reach Agreement With Forward Garrison Brooks

The New Orleans Pelicans have struck a deal to add free-agent forward Garrison Brooks, agent Darrell Comer told NBA reporter Chris Haynes on Sept. 2.

Contract terms were not disclosed, but the agreement is expected to be an Exhibit 10. Such a pact would allow New Orleans to waive the 26-year-old before opening night and steer him to its G League affiliate, the Birmingham Squadron. Because Birmingham recently obtained Brooks’ returning rights, the 6-foot-9 forward would be eligible for an Exhibit 10 bonus of up to $85,300 if he remains with the Squadron for at least 60 days.

Brooks went undrafted out of Mississippi State in 2022. He averaged 13.6 points and 11.6 rebounds over 37 G League games (30.5 minutes) with the Westchester Knicks during his rookie season, spent part of 2023 in South Korea, and has played most of the last two years for BC Wolves in Lithuania. In 18 EuroCup contests last season, he posted 7.1 points and 4.1 rebounds across 20.3 minutes per game.

In July, Spencer Davies of RG.org reported that Brooks participated in a Las Vegas pro day organized by the agency CSE and was drawing interest as a possible NBA training-camp invitee.
