Phoenix Suns forward Dillon Brooks was taken into custody early Friday on suspicion of driving under the influence after a traffic stop in Scottsdale, Arizona, according to local police.

Authorities said the 30-year-old was pulled over for traffic violations at approximately 1:00 a.m. and was formally arrested about 30 minutes later. Brooks was transported to Scottsdale City Jail, booked, and released around 3:30 a.m. Police described him as respectful and cooperative during the process, outlets reported.

“We are aware of the situation involving Dillon Brooks and are gathering more information. We have no further comment at this time,” the Suns said in a statement released to The Arizona Republic.

The NBA can issue suspensions in DUI cases, but the league typically waits until legal proceedings conclude. Any discipline would depend on whether prosecutors file charges and on Brooks’s eventual plea.

Brooks is in his first season with Phoenix after arriving from the Houston Rockets as part of last summer’s Kevin Durant trade. Before fracturing his left hand last month, the veteran swingman was averaging a career-best 20.9 points along with 3.7 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 30.6 minutes per game, shooting .440 from the field, .343 from three-point range, and .856 at the foul line. The Suns are 30-20 in the 50 contests he has played. Surgery to repair the fracture was expected to sideline him four to six weeks, keeping him out until late in the regular season.
