The New York Knicks voiced sharp criticism of Thursday night’s officiating, claiming Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander benefitted from a string of favorable whistles during their matchup.
Players and coaches spoke with reporters after the game, insisting the calls were one-sided. One member of the club summed up the frustration by saying Gilgeous-Alexander “does a great job of convincing” officials to blow the whistle in his favor.
The Knicks argued that the perceived imbalance at the free-throw line disrupted their defensive rhythm and altered the flow of the contest. Exact foul totals were not immediately available.
The NBA and the game’s referee crew had not issued a public response by press time. It was unclear whether New York planned to submit a formal complaint to the league office.
