The Portland Trail Blazers have waived guard Javonte Cooke, according to the NBA’s official transaction log posted at 4:45 p.m. ET.
League sources told HoopsHype earlier in the afternoon that Portland intended to part ways with the 26-year-old, who was signed to a two-way contract.
Limited NBA Action, Strong G League Production
Cooke appeared in 19 NBA games this season, logging just 4.9 minutes per contest and averaging 1.2 points and 1.0 rebounds. In the G League, however, he delivered 22.7 points, 5.6 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 1.9 steals and 0.9 blocks over 15 outings (33.1 MPG) for Portland’s affiliate, the Rip City Remix, while shooting .458 from the field, .358 from three and .750 at the line.
Career Path
Undrafted in 2022 after stops at three Division II colleges, Cooke spent most of the past three seasons in the NBA G League and also played for the Brampton Honey Badgers in Canada’s Elite Basketball League in 2024.
Roster Implications
The move leaves Portland with two open two-way slots. One of those spots is expected to be filled by former Oklahoma City Thunder guard Chris Youngblood, according to previous reports.
