Greece and Poland have locked up places in the EuroBasket 2025 knockout stage after staying perfect through three group games, FIBA confirmed on Sunday. Their advancement puts them alongside Finland, Germany, Serbia and Turkey in the round of 16.

Competing in Group C, Greece punched its ticket by routing Georgia and benefiting from Cyprus’ third consecutive defeat. Two-time NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo powered the Greeks with 27 points on 9-for-11 shooting, eight rebounds and four assists in just 25 minutes as the team rolled to a 41-point win.

Georgia opted to rest center Goga Bitadze (DNP-CD) and limited forward Tornike Shengelia to under four minutes. Head coach Aleksandar Džikić said afterward that preserving player health for the final two group contests outweighed chasing an upset, calling the strategy “the smart thing to do.”

In Group D, Poland battled past winless Iceland to clinch its spot. Former NBA guard Jordan Loyd led all scorers with 26 points, while veteran wing Mateusz Ponitka filled the stat sheet with 18 points, eight rebounds and eight assists.

Antetokounmpo is expected to remain with the Milwaukee Bucks to open the 2025-26 NBA season after the club re-signed his older brother, Thanasis Antetokounmpo, to a guaranteed minimum deal. Thanasis is also part of Greece’s EuroBasket roster.
