The NBA levied $25,000 fines against Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards and Orlando Magic guard Desmond Bane for forcefully throwing game balls into spectator areas, the league announced Thursday, Feb. 26, 2026.

Edwards’ infraction happened at halftime of Minnesota’s win in Portland on Tuesday. As the buzzer sounded following a Trail Blazers miss, the All-Star scooped up the loose ball and launched it the length of the court toward the opposite basket. League-supplied video showed the ball striking an arena staff member in the head.

The 22-year-old was fined $420,000 last season for eight separate violations, most involving profanity in postgame interviews. One of those penalties—a $35,000 assessment—stemmed from throwing the ball into the stands after being ejected and delaying his exit from the floor.

Bane received the same $25,000 punishment for a similar incident at the conclusion of Orlando’s 110-109 road victory over the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday night.

No suspensions were issued in either case, the league said.
