The Portland Trail Blazers announced Tuesday that guard Shaedon Sharpe has suffered a stress fracture in his left fibula and will be re-evaluated in approximately four to six weeks.
Sharpe, 20, has been sidelined since Feb. 6 with what was initially labeled a left calf strain. The fracture was detected during follow-up imaging, according to the club.
Based on the stated recovery window, the 2022 lottery pick is expected to miss the remainder of the regular season. He has appeared in 48 games this year, starting 42, and is averaging a career-best 21.4 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.4 steals in 30.0 minutes per contest, ranking second on the team in scoring.
Sharpe signed a four-year, $90 million rookie-scale extension in October that begins next season.
Portland sits ninth in the Western Conference at 29-30. While the Trail Blazers hold at least a six-game cushion over the conference’s bottom five teams, Sharpe’s absence could impact their bid to return to the playoffs for the first time since 2021.
