Phoenix, Ariz. — Portland Trail Blazers All-Star guard Deni Avdija exited Sunday night’s matchup with the Phoenix Suns after aggravating a lower-back injury and was ruled out for the remainder of the contest.
The 24-year-old was listed as questionable before tip-off but opted to start. He logged only one minute at Footprint Center before heading to the locker room, where team medical staff determined he could not continue.
Avdija has dealt with lower-back discomfort for several weeks. Entering the game, he was averaging 25.0 points, 7.2 rebounds and 6.8 assists this season.
Portland did not immediately announce whether further tests are planned or provide a timeline for his return.
