CLEVELAND — Donovan Mitchell registered his 100th 30-point outing in a Cavaliers uniform on Friday night, pouring in 32 points to lift Cleveland past the Charlotte Hornets, 118-113, at Spectrum Center.
The milestone came on the second night of a back-to-back against a Hornets squad that had entered the game on a hot streak. Mitchell scored 13 points in the fourth quarter, repeatedly halting Charlotte rallies and securing the Cavaliers’ seventh consecutive victory and ninth in their last 10 contests.
“Hopefully I get 100, 200 more — that’s the goal,” Mitchell said afterward. “I love being here. I love being a part of this group, this organization and this city.”
The All-Star guard also noted the traveling support from Cleveland fans. “To see the crowd we have on the road, a lot of Cavs fans … it’s special,” he added.
James Harden contributed 18 points and eight assists, settling into a complementary role alongside Mitchell. The Cavaliers’ offense continued to flow through Mitchell, who has now reached at least 30 points in triple digits since arriving in Cleveland.
Mitchell’s latest performance underscored his central role as Cleveland climbs the Eastern Conference standings. One hundred such nights are in the books, and, by his own estimation, many more remain.
