The Los Angeles Lakers are increasing season-ticket prices, the team’s first significant decision since billionaire Mark Walter finalized his purchase of the franchise.

The price hike was disclosed on February 21, 2026, shortly after Walter officially took control of the club. Existing season-ticket holders were notified that renewal costs for the 2026-27 campaign will be higher than last season, affecting every seating tier inside Crypto.com Arena.

The organization did not release detailed figures, but the increase marks a rapid shift in team policy under the new ownership group. Walter, who also leads the consortium that owns Major League Baseball’s Los Angeles Dodgers, completed his acquisition of the Lakers earlier this month.

Team representatives framed the adjustment as part of a broader plan to invest in arena upgrades and basketball operations. However, many fans voiced frustration on social media, saying the added expense makes attending games increasingly difficult.

Walter has not commented publicly on the backlash. The Lakers finished last season with an average home attendance of more than 18,000, among the highest in the NBA.
