Nina Westbrook, wife of NBA guard Russell Westbrook, published a screenshot of a threatening message she received from a fan, in which the sender wrote, “Hope you die in a car crash.” The post appeared on her social media account on Feb. 20, 2026.
The email, sent by an individual whose identity was not disclosed, contained no other context beyond the death wish. By sharing the screenshot, Nina Westbrook drew attention to the abusive messages that sometimes target athletes’ families.
Russell Westbrook, a former NBA MVP and nine-time All-Star, has not publicly addressed the email. The couple has three children together.
Law enforcement involvement or league action related to the email has not been reported.
