Dallas Mavericks guard Kyrie Irving will sit out the remainder of the 2025-26 NBA season while he continues to recover from anterior cruciate ligament surgery, the New York Post reported on Feb. 18.

The report states Irving is “still healing” and has not been cleared for basketball activities. With only weeks left in the regular season, Dallas has opted to shut the veteran guard down rather than risk a setback in his rehabilitation.

Irving underwent the procedure on his left knee during the offseason and has yet to appear in a game this year. His absence leaves Luka Dončić as the Mavericks’ primary playmaker as the team attempts to climb back into the Western Conference playoff race.

The franchise has not provided a detailed timetable for Irving’s return, but the Post indicated the organization expects him to be ready for training camp ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.
