LOS ANGELES — Speaking to reporters at the Intuit Dome on Feb. 14, 2026, Los Angeles Lakers guard Luka Doncic said he believes the Lakers run a superior operation to the Dallas Mavericks, the team that traded him last season.

“I think the organization is better here. The Lakers are a truly legendary club and the organization is legendary too,” the Slovenian star told SportKlub during media availability for the NBA All-Star Game.

Doncic, 27, is making his sixth consecutive All-Star appearance but his first in a Lakers uniform after five selections with Dallas. The four-time All-NBA guard acknowledged that leaving the Mavericks was difficult, noting previously that he hoped to spend his entire career in Dallas. More than a year after the trade, he said he has fully embraced his role in Los Angeles and feels supported by the franchise.

“Winning with the Lakers is unlike anything else,” Doncic said, adding that he welcomes the heightened expectations that come with playing for one of basketball’s most recognized brands.

Doncic had missed the Lakers’ previous four regular-season games because of a hamstring issue but logged five minutes in the All-Star Game. He reported no discomfort afterward, saying the hamstring “felt good” during his brief stint on the court.

The guard is expected to resume full duties when the Lakers return from the All-Star break. Los Angeles has publicly committed to building around Doncic as its long-term cornerstone.
