The Cavaliers have featured several notable beards over the years, from LeBron James to Kevin Love. None, however, match the profile of newcomer James Harden, whose signature facial hair is already being hailed as the most distinctive in Cleveland franchise history.
Harden, widely known throughout the NBA as “The Beard,” joined the Cavaliers less than a week ago. His trademark look — full, slightly graying, and almost completely covering his mouth — has been a constant since his rookie season and quickly set him apart in his new locker room.
While past Cavs such as Tristan Thompson, Zydrunas Ilgauskas, Drew Gooden, Carlos Boozer, and even a neatly trimmed LeBron James have tried various beard styles, none have achieved the same level of recognition or consistency. Harden’s facial hair is described as possessing “the three Cs: character, consistency and creativity,” instantly elevating it to the top spot in the team’s unofficial beard rankings.
The franchise is leaning into the distinction. The Cavaliers’ official account promoted Harden’s first home appearance on February 10, 2026, encouraging fans to arrive early and “rock the beard” alongside the former MVP.
With one light-hearted title already secured, Harden now turns his attention to on-court goals as he begins his tenure in Cleveland.
