The Phoenix Suns are expected to place sixth-year guard Cole Anthony on waivers, Arizona Sports 98.7 reporter John Gambadoro said via social media.
Phoenix brought in the 25-year-old last week in a three-team deal primarily aimed at shedding salary. The roster already features multiple backcourt options, and Anthony has not yet reported to the club. Head coach Jordan Ott told reporters Saturday that the two sides were “working through” Anthony’s status.
Selected 15th overall in the 2020 draft, Anthony spent his first five NBA seasons with the Orlando Magic, posting averages of 12.5 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.8 assists on .419/.345/.847 shooting across 320 games (24.8 minutes). His playing time dipped in recent years, and he was sent to the Memphis Grizzlies in the offseason as part of the Desmond Bane blockbuster.
After reaching a buyout with Memphis, Anthony signed a one-year, minimum-salary deal with the Milwaukee Bucks. In 35 games this season, he logged career lows of 15.1 minutes, 6.7 points, 2.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists while shooting .424/.306/.615.
Anthony’s true shooting percentage has slipped to a career-low 48.3% in 2025-26, yet his age and previous production could make him a target for teams in need of reserve ball-handling once his release from Phoenix becomes official.
