2K Games on Wednesday outlined a series of upgrades coming to NBA 2K26’s franchise modes, promising new online functionality, faster simulations and era-specific financial tweaks.

Online playoffs arrive in MyNBA

For the first time, players can take the playoff phase of MyNBA online. After seeding a bracket, the host may invite up to 15 friends or open the competition to the public, letting the entire field battle through a dedicated postseason presentation on the way to a virtual championship.

Simulation settings get three speeds

Developers said community feedback drove an eight-percent boost in overall simulation speed and the addition of three presets. “Normal” mirrors last year’s pace, “Smarter” slows slightly to mimic real-world trade logic, and “Faster” sacrifices some strategy checks to push seasons along more quickly.

Personal and historical touches

Users can now copy a created MyPLAYER onto any roster—modern or classic—to test their avatar against league legends. Franchise accomplishments will be commemorated with banners hanging in each team’s arena, while MyWNBA gains a new expansion club, the Golden State Valkyries.

Governors’ directives and era-specific finances

Before each season, team governors issue goals that general managers must meet. Exceeding expectations can unlock higher budgets for trades or facility renovations. Financial systems have been overhauled to reflect period-accurate salary caps, tax thresholds and operating budgets across different historical eras.

MyGM storylines and customization

MyGM introduces 30 team-based storylines that open in the 2025 offseason, echoing challenges faced by their real-life counterparts. The mode will be available in ranked and unranked variants; the latter allows full editing of players, imported rosters and draft classes, plus adjustable house rules.
