Indiana Pacers swingman Johnny Furphy will miss the remainder of the 2025-26 campaign after an MRI revealed a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, the club announced Tuesday.

The injury occurred Sunday in Toronto when the 21-year-old landed awkwardly following a dunk. Furphy immediately grabbed his knee and had to be helped off the court.

Selected 35th overall in the 2024 draft, the Australian native had started 21 of the past 22 games. He averaged 5.1 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.2 assists across 35 appearances this season, logging 18.4 minutes per night while shooting 47.0% from the field and 32.4% from three-point range.

Indiana has dealt with multiple injuries this year and views Furphy as a key piece thanks to his rebounding and defensive versatility on the wing.

Recovery timelines for similar ACL injuries suggest Furphy could miss a significant portion of the 2026-27 season as well. Teammates Moritz Wagner and Grant Williams each spent more than 12 months on the sideline after sustaining comparable knee damage last year.

Furphy is guaranteed $2.3 million next season. The Pacers hold a $2.5 million team option for 2027-28.
