Luka Doncic Leaves Lakers-Sixers Game With Left Leg Soreness

Lakers guard Luka Doncic exited Thursday night’s matchup with the Philadelphia 76ers because of left leg soreness and was ruled out for the rest of the game, the team announced via social media.

Reporters on site noted the 26-year-old Slovenian star was clutching his left hamstring during several possessions before heading to the bench. With 3:03 remaining in the second quarter, Doncic walked to the locker room while still holding the hamstring area, according to multiple eyewitness accounts.

The Lakers have not yet detailed the severity of the issue. Hamstring strains frequently require weeks of recovery, so the club is hoping the discomfort proves to be only minor soreness.

Doncic has already missed eight games this season. In 41 appearances, the NBA’s leading scorer is averaging 33.4 points, 8.7 assists, 7.9 rebounds and 1.5 steals across 36.0 minutes, shooting 47.5% from the field, 34.8% from three and 77.9% at the foul line.

With Doncic sidelined, Austin Reaves—still on a minutes limit after a recent calf strain—could absorb additional playmaking duties. LeBron James and recently acquired shooter Luke Kennard may also see expanded offensive roles depending on how long Doncic remains unavailable.
