The Cleveland Cavaliers plan to convert forward Nae’Qwan Tomlin from a two-way deal to a full NBA contract, Cleveland.com reported after Thursday’s trade deadline.

Tomlin, 25, has appeared in 41 games this season, providing 6.6 points and 3.1 rebounds per contest while frequently guarding the opponent’s top wing. His energy and physical play have made him a regular part of head coach J.B. Bickerstaff’s rotation.

Two-way players may suit up in no more than 50 NBA games before teams must either promote them or make another roster decision. With roughly a week before Tomlin reaches that limit, the Cavaliers intend to finalize the move in advance.

Cleveland sits at 31-21 after winning eight of its last 10 games, moving closer to the Eastern Conference’s upper tier. At the deadline the club added James Harden, Dennis Schroder and Keon Ellis while sending out Darius Garland, DeAndre Hunter and Lonzo Ball.
