The Oklahoma City Thunder acquired the NBA draft rights to Serbian center Balsa Koprivica from the Utah Jazz on Tuesday, the teams announced in separate press releases.
Utah receives cash considerations in the transaction, which was characterized by both clubs as a minor deal.
Koprivica, 25, is currently playing for Bahcesehir Koleji in Turkey’s BSL. The 7-foot-1 big man spent two seasons at Florida State University before declaring for the 2021 NBA Draft.
He was selected 57th overall by the Charlotte Hornets in 2021 and immediately sent to the Detroit Pistons on draft night. Detroit moved his rights to the Los Angeles Clippers for cash in the summer of 2023, and the Clippers forwarded those rights to Utah a year later as part of a trade that included Russell Westbrook and Kris Dunn.
There has been no public indication that Koprivica plans to leave Europe for the NBA. Nevertheless, his draft rights give Oklahoma City another small trade asset, particularly useful in seasons when the club may be above the second tax apron and ineligible to include cash in deals.
