LOS ANGELES — LeBron James believes the Los Angeles Lakers strengthened their bond over the club’s recently completed Grammy road swing, an eight-game journey that ended with a 107-99 victory against the Brooklyn Nets on Feb. 3, 2026.
The Lakers finished the trip 5-3 and returned to Crypto.com Arena still firmly in the Western Conference playoff picture. Now in his 23rd NBA season, the 39-year-old forward said the extended time away from home allowed the roster to connect on and off the court.
“We’re professionals, we understand what’s going on around the league, but every night we prepared together and played for one another,” James told Spectrum SportsNet after the win at Barclays Center. He added that the locker room “really likes being around each other,” calling the group “pretty close.”
James, who scored 28 points in Brooklyn, also reflected on several highlights from the trip, including appearances at Madison Square Garden and a stop in his hometown of Cleveland. He noted the frigid East Coast temperatures but said the on-court performance and the chance to share minutes with his son, rookie guard Bronny James, made the journey memorable.
With the NBA trade deadline approaching, speculation has swirled about possible roster moves in Los Angeles. League sources told Lakers Nation that the organization does not intend to move James before the Feb. 8 cutoff, even though the four-time MVP and the team did not reach a contract extension last summer.
The Lakers resume play at home later this week, looking to translate the chemistry James described into continued success against a stacked conference.
