NBA Suspends Lakers Center Jaxson Hayes for One Game

The NBA has issued a one-game suspension to Los Angeles Lakers center Jaxson Hayes for shoving the Washington Wizards mascot during pregame introductions on January 30 in Washington, D.C.
The league announced the penalty on February 4, 2026. Hayes will sit out Thursday’s matchup against the Philadelphia 76ers at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
The suspension will cost the 23-year-old $19,824, the amount representing 1/174th of his $3,449,323 2025-26 salary.
According to The Athletic, the mascot—G-Wiz—was not hurt in the incident. Video of the push circulated on social media earlier this week.
