In a report published Tuesday, ESPN fantasy analyst Dr. André Snellings detailed how league managers are handling five of the most-traded players in ESPN formats: Giannis Antetokounmpo, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Michael Porter Jr., Karl-Anthony Towns and Joel Embiid.
Giannis Antetokounmpo, Milwaukee Bucks
Antetokounmpo remains a consensus top-10 option when healthy, but an unspecified injury and constant trade chatter have depressed his rest-of-season outlook to around the top-40 range. Managers attempting to acquire the forward are generally offering mid-tier talent, while current roster-holders still demand top-15 value. Snellings cited a live negotiation in which an initial package of Evan Mobley and Jordan Poole for Antetokounmpo was countered for Mobley and Keyonte George.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Oklahoma City Thunder
The Thunder guard leads the league in total fantasy points, ranks third in fantasy points per game and sits second overall in both points and category-based rankings. Oklahoma City owns the NBA’s best record for the second straight season, and the organization rested stars late last year, creating mild concern that Gilgeous-Alexander could sit during fantasy playoffs. Even so, his trade value remains at a maximum; Snellings notes that managers often refuse to move him for anything less than top-five compensation.
Michael Porter Jr., Brooklyn Nets
Porter’s offseason move from the title-contending Denver Nuggets to the rebuilding Nets has boosted his usage and vaulted him into the fantasy elite. He is top 30 in fantasy points per game and top 40 on the ESPN Player Rater. Persistent rumors that Brooklyn may move the forward before the deadline inject uncertainty into his future workload. Fantasy managers selling Porter aim for top-30 returns, while buyers typically open negotiations closer to top-40 pricing.
Karl-Anthony Towns, New York Knicks
Towns is averaging 38.2 fantasy points per game, down from last season’s 46.6. Reports of friction with the Knicks and speculation about a potential trade have made him one of the most-moved players in ESPN leagues. Snellings points out that a new environment could increase the center’s production; he currently ranks 26th in total fantasy points and 19th on the Player Rater, with top-15 upside. Managers holding Towns usually request top-15 assets, while those looking to acquire him lean on his present top-40 production level as a negotiating point.
Joel Embiid, Philadelphia 76ers
Embiid carries the largest risk-reward profile among the group. Early-season absences and minute restrictions pushed his overall value to the top-50 range, yet the center’s recent form has been elite: seventh in fantasy points per game over the past month and third over the last two weeks. He has missed only three of Philadelphia’s last 18 contests. Fantasy managers seeking Embiid often propose offers reflective of his top-50 ranking, while those already rostering him insist on top-20 value or better.
