Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James was named an NBA All-Star reserve on Feb. 1, guaranteeing that his historic run of consecutive appearances in the league’s midseason showcase remains unbroken.

The latest selection prolongs a streak many observers once feared might end this season. Despite questions about his availability earlier in the year, the 41-year-old secured a spot on the Western Conference bench when the league announced its group of reserves.

James has now earned an All-Star invitation every year since his second NBA campaign, the longest active string in league history. Being listed among the reserves ensures he will take part in the upcoming exhibition alongside the previously revealed starters.
