Overwatch 2 players will find NBA star Luka Doncic inside the game when Season 18 opens on Tuesday, gaining access to exclusive in-game rewards themed around the Los Angeles Lakers guard and to two new Stadium mode maps he helped design.
The collaboration was announced Monday, accompanied by an image of Doncic posing with the game’s gunslinger hero, Cassidy. The pairing plays on Doncic’s well-known affinity for “cowboy” imagery dating back to his years with the Dallas Mavericks.
Stadium mode, introduced in Season 16, pits two teams against each other in a best-of-seven format and allows hero upgrades during play. Blizzard Entertainment said the upcoming season marks the mode’s “biggest evolution” to date, highlighted by the Doncic-inspired arenas.
Doncic has been open about his passion for the first-person shooter. In May 2024 he disclosed that he had reached a top-500 ranking in the tank role, a position that absorbs damage and anchors team strategy.
On the court, the four-time All-Star is preparing for his first full NBA campaign with the Lakers after arriving from the Mavericks in a February trade. Last season he averaged 28.2 points, 8.2 rebounds and 7.7 assists.
